META will develop the Feasibility Study of: AUTOVÍA ORBITAL DE BARCELONA B-40. Stretch: TERRASSA – GRANOLLERS for the Ministry of Fomento, in 24 months.
Barcelona, February 17th, 2017.

The objective of the Feasibility study is to define the most adequate alternative, having already studied the advantages and inconveniences of each of the possible existing options, in order to improve the capacity and functionality of the road section, including the construction of the Autovia Orbital B-40.

The area of the study is located between Terrassa and Granollers, right between the Sierra Litoral and Prelitoral. It is a densely populated area, with industrial areas and plenty of urbanizations.

In this area we can find the municipalities of Terrassa, Sabadell,
Sentmenat, Caldes de Montbui, Santa Eulàlia de Ronçana, l’Ametlla del Vallès, les Franqueses del Vallès, Granollers y la Roca del Vallès.

The current long-distance corridor, formed by the AP-7, B-30 and A-2 highways, that serves to both the center corridor, which goes from the French frontier to Zaragoza and Madrid, and the Mediterranean corridor, which leads to the Levante, is highly saturated in the area near to the AMB.

These roads, besides serving to the long distance highways that span across the Peninsula, have a distributing functionality among the different municipalities that make up the AMB.

Throughout the area, there are several north-south highways (C-16, C-58, C-59 and C-17) that communicate with the inner municipalities of Catalonia with the AMB, which are themselves connected through the AP-7, B-30 and A-2.
