Meta Engineering, part of the temporary consortium awarded works at Port of Barcelona scheduled for the next two years
24 February 2022
The temporary consortium comprising Meta Engineering, BAC Engineering Consultancy Group and GPO Group has been chosen to provide technical assistance for site management on the works the Port of Barcelona has scheduled for the next two years, through the 2022-2024 Framework Agreement, which can be extended to 2026.
We will be in charge of technical assistance for site management for infrastructures, project management for building works, and quality control, geotechnical assistance, instrument monitoring and project management assistance for the whole port.
Some of the most noteworthy investments in this framework agreement include several projects to expand and refurbish the wharfs, as well as other projects to improve road and rail access to the port.
The Port of Barcelona has consolidated its position as one of the main commercial ports in the Mediterranean, thanks to its Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL) and direct access to the centre of Barcelona, as well as its connection to major ports all over the world.
In terms of passenger transport, it is already the largest cruise port in the Mediterranean and the fourth in the world, only behind ports in the Caribbean.
