Meta Engineering awarded technical assistance project for Metro de Madrid Line 7
15 november 2021
Meta Engineering has been awarded the contract to provide technical assistance to the owners in the work to update the signalling systems on Metro de Madrid Line 7. The upgrades include updating the ATO driverless train system between Estadio Metropolitano and Pitis, and updating the CBTC safety system between Hospital de Henares and Estadio Metropolitano.
The works on both systems cover a joint total of 28 kilometres of the Metro de Madrid infrastructure, and include 48 trains serving it. These upgrades will be an important step forward in improving quality of service, maintenance, and safety of operations.
With this project, we continue to promote collaboration to improve rail transport infrastructure in the Spanish capital, as we did previously with the project to extend Line 11.
For that project, Meta Engineering won the 2020 award for Best Contribution to an Engineering Project or Works by an SME, from the Colegio de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos de Madrid (Madrid Civil Engineers Association) in the 13th edition of their awards.
