15 years since Meta Engineering helped launch service at El Prat de Llobregat commuter train station

15 years ago, we helped launch service at El Prat de Llobregat commuter train station, taking part in drafting the project and overseeing works.
So, here at Meta Engineering we would like to take advantage of this moment to recognise all the people and organisations who made it possible. It wasn’t easy to move from surface tracks to underground rails without interrupting service.
Works began in May 2005 and, after re-routing service through a provisional station in April 2006, the permanent Rodalies commuter train station was ready in March 2007. Now, 15 years later, this has clearly improved development in El Prat de Llobregat, eliminating the barrier that limited the city to the north.
Immediately afterwards, work began on the high-speed rail tunnel and, in February 2008, the Madrid-Barcelona high-speed rail line went into service.
Since then, we’ve continued working on stations on metro line 9 as it passes through El Prat and expect to culminate the process with construction of the El Prat de Llobregat intermodal station.
