Green light for execution of works in Meta Engineering project for first section of Madrid Metro Line 11 extension
10 January 2021
On 29 December, the Government of the Community of Madrid gave the green light for the first section of the extension of Madrid Metro Line 11, from Plaza Elíptica to Conde de Casal, with a budget of €560 million and 48 months for execution.
Meta Engineering was the company in charge of drafting the Informational Study and Building Project for that section, which is a 7.5-kilometre extension with 5 new stations. The works are scheduled to begin in November 2022 and finish in 2026.
These works are part of the extension of Madrid Metro Line 11, an ambitious multi-mode transport project in four sections with a total of 33.5 kilometres crossing Madrid from southwest to northeast and joining Cuatro Vientos to the new developments in Valdebebas.
The total extension of Line 11 will connect seven of the capital’s transport interchange points and reach areas that are strategic for mobility, including the Madrid Puerta de Atocha train station and the Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez airport.
This will help significantly improve urban mobility for residents of 179 towns, many far from the capital, giving them better access to all sorts of services.
